The higher your credit score is, the better interest rates you’ll have access to. For some lenders though, there are other factors they’ll consider instead of, or in addition to your credit score. These might include the type of car you’re looking to finance, your employment status and your current living situation. 

You can improve your credit score by meeting all of your existing financial obligations on time and in full. It’s also a good idea to check your current credit score, and get an understanding of your credit history - you can do this for free through Equifax.

When it comes to financing your new Audi, you’ve got a number of options with Driva.

• Secured loan. Secured car loans involve using your new Audi as collateral against the loan and tend to be accompanied by a lower interest rate. Secured loans are most suitable for newer cars (ie: 2013 or newer).
• Unsecured loan. Unsecured loans don’t require you to use your car, or any other asset as collateral, and therefore normally have a higher interest rate. They are often most suitable for older cars (ie: 2012 or older)
• Commercial loan options. If you’re buying a car to use for a business purpose, you might like to consider your commercial loan options, including a chattel mortgage, hire purchase or novated lease. If you’re a sole trader or self-employed, you’ll have access to both commercial and consumer loan options.

Every lender charges fees, so it’s important to take these into consideration before deciding on a lender. These might include ongoing fees, early repayment fees or charges for extra repayments.

When you’re weighing up your finance options, you might find yourself trying to decide between getting an Audi car loan and getting finance through a dealership. In order to legally drive a car anywhere in Australia, you’ll need to have compulsory third party insurance (CTP), and the cost of this is often included in your vehicle registration (depending on which state or territory you’re in). Additionally, in order for your loan to settle with any of the 30+ lenders on our panel, you’ll need to take out comprehensive vehicle insurance too. Comprehensive insurance covers you for damage to your vehicle, as well as damage to the other person’s vehicle and property. Optional extras like choice of repairer are also available.

When you’re comparing loan options, you’ll notice an annual percentage rate (APR) and a comparison rate. The lender quoted APR is the based interest rate you’ll need to pay on that loan, but it doesn’t include any fees and charges so can be a bit misleading. We recommend relying more on the comparison rate of each loan option, as it includes nearly all the fees and charges you’ll need to pay, so is much closer to the true cost of the loan.
